Amanda's Amazing Hot Chocolate Recipe

by Betty Ignante

When you think of great hot chocolate, you generally thinkof New England, the upper Midwest, and other cold weatherareas.Maybe so, but do not overlook Louisiana. Specifically, SouthLouisiana, where food and drink are taken very seriously. In fact, my very favorite hot chocolate recipe belongs to auniversity administrator, wife, and mother who grew up inAbbeville, where nearly everyone is an accomplished cook, even the men. Here is Amanda's recipe.Put ten cups of dry powdered milk in a large bowl.Add two and a half cups of Coffee-Mate or an equivalentproduct.Fold in eighteen ounces of cocoa mix. Amanda uses Nestle's.Add 1 1/4 cups of powdered sugar, and mix everythingtogether thoroughly. When the mixture is completed, add two heaping teaspoons toa cup of hot water to try it, and add a bit more of anyingredient to suit your taste. It is great as is, but Igenerally add a bit more cocoa.Whether you make a little ingredient adjustment or not, youand your family will love the results.Betty Ignante is currently collecting recipes for a newwebsite.  In addition to cooking and home decorating, herinterests include elementary education,(http://www.college-scholarships.com) online college degreeprograms, and (http://www.online-colleges-and-degrees.com)online colleges with accelerated degree options.
